During the school holidays the PartyFlix team holds interactive film workshops throughout London. The aim of these workshops is to create a fun, interactive experience for the children whilst learning the skills of filmmaking. The courses are aimed to be both educational and enjoyable.

Classes are taught by Barney who is trained in teaching film production. He also currently works part-time in schools.


Courses
The courses run over a 3day period (4 hours per class).

Day 1 - Pre Production

The children will learn the basic skills of the pre-production process for making short films. They will be asked to think of an idea for a short film and a vote will be conducted to choose their favourite film to make. The group will then develop a script and prepare production.

Day 2 - Production

In the second session the students will get to shoot their ideas and put the storyboard they have created into visuals. This will begin with organising the film scheduling. Each child will then take part in all the roles of filmmaking and begin filming.

… Working in the following roles, director, Camera man, Assistant director, sound recordist, runner, Props manager, location manager, Make up artist, Costume, etc.

Day 3 - Post Production

The final day of the workshop is dedicated to editing. The class will be shown examples of different styles of editing. Barney will conduct a demonstration of moviemaker, giving the children a basic knowledge of editing. In pairs the children will then begin editing their own version of the film. After editing is completed the whole group will view the films. The children will then participate in a vote for their favourite film. The chosen film will be debuted to the parents at the end of the session.

At the end of the course all children will be able to take home a DVD of their film.
